About me
Chase Beathard, PhD, MBA, is the Director of Research & Development at Fungi Perfecti, LLC, where he leads research across fungal biology, chemistry, and molecular and cell biology to advance mycelium-driven solutions for human health and wellness. His translational research spans immunology, neurobiology, virology, longevity, and stress resilience, building on a broader foundation in fungal biology, genetics, and chemistry.
At Fungi Perfecti, Chase developed and scaled the company's molecular biology and genetics laboratory and expanded its preclinical cell culture capabilities to support functional research, helping grow an integrated R&D program that has produced multiple peer-reviewed publications. He plays a key role in generating outcomes that inform product development and regulatory-compliant claims, working with Fungi Perfecti's in-house team and through collaborations with academic and private-sector partners. He is also Secretary of the Functional Mushroom Council and chairs its Research Committee, helping advance scientific standards and industry education.
Chase earned his PhD in Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry from Washington State University, with highly cited research on the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway, and an MBA in Leadership and Management to complement his scientific leadership and drive for industry advancement. A passionate advocate for mycelium-based products, he is an active scientific communicator who regularly publishes and speaks at industry events, helping bridge cutting-edge research with consumer-relevant offerings.
