SCHEDULE LAUNCH IS JUNE 21st, 2026

Welcome to the largest wild mushroom happening in North America, the 46th Annual Telluride Mushroom Festival! This program of the Telluride Institute, a 501c3 non-profit, offers a plethora of events ranging from foray and mushroom ID sessions, to hands-on demonstrations and lectures—all led by regionally, nationally, and internationally-known experts, (and we cannot forget the wide variety of social and cultural events offered, along with the famous Mushroom Parade!) there is plenty for everyone, every day.

On this website, you can filter your search by events, venues, presenters, etc. Each year the Mushroom Festival features many wonderful presentations on “all things fungi.” Presentations on similar topics are grouped together at the same venue so that attendees interested will be able to spend more time learning and interacting, and less time walking between venues. See who else is interested in each event and interact with our extended Mushroom Family.

See you soon!

Truffle Dog Foray w/ Heather Dawson and her truffle hunting dogs

Wednesday, August 12th 9am-1pm

*NO DOGS allowed, however, all humans are welcome!*

What kind of fungal treasures lie hidden underground in the Rocky Mountain soils? We're going to find out! Truffle dogs Rye and Pyro dig up everything from delightfully fruity-scented truffles to more eye-watering pungent varieties that provide a unique journey into the world of truffle aromas, both good and bad. While gourmet truffles aren't known to grow in Colorado, underground fruiting fungi represent a significant portion of fungal biodiversity yet often go undetected. In this special event, Heather Dawson will give a demonstration on the process of training a dog to find truffles, which will be followed by a foray into the woods with her golden retriever truffle dogs to find diverse wild truffles.

Where to Meet
This foray meets at Carhenge Parking Lot at 8:45AM. We encourage you to arrive a little early to meet your foray leader and your fellow foragers. TMF does not provide transportation, so carpooling is encouraged to help groups stay together.

Be Prepared

Please come ready for changing mountain weather with:
  • Good footwear
  • Water and snacks
  • Layers or rain gear
  • A basket or paper bag for collecting mushrooms
All foray groups will have a First Aid–certified volunteer present.

Natural Dying and Botanical Printing w/ Mayumi Fujio Wednesday, August 12th 9:00am-1:00pm

Botanical printing uses real leaves along with mineral and tannin to transfer natural color and shape from plants onto natural fiber such as silk, cotton and linen. It is like printing a photo directly from the plants to the fabric. This is a beginner’s class for botanical printing so no experience is needed. You will take home 1 long silk scarf that you dye during the class using lichen and plants. The lichen you will use is UV fluorescent so a part of the scarf you make will glow with the UV light. You will learn the process of botanical printing so you can create this art at home.

9am-1pm Foray
Foray with the aim of taking the best possible photographs and making high quality collections for future mycological research. A crash course in iNaturalist will be given once we reach the field. Photographs will then be captured using the equipment each participant brings. Alan and Mandie will be hands-on in the field, teaching participants how to choose mushrooms worth collecting and how to set them up to display the important features for identification. We can help them get the best quality photographs with anything from cell phones to professional cameras. Advanced skills such as focus stacking techniques and UV photography will be utilized whenever possible.

1:00pm - 2:30pm Lunch and Travel to the Classroom
Participants will be responsible for coordinating their own travel to/from the field and providing their own lunch between the foray and the classroom.

2:30pm - 5:30pm Image and Specimen Processing in the Classroom
When participants start to arrive at the classroom (between 2:00-2:30) Mandie will help them process the voucher collections and post their observations to iNaturalist. All of the samples from this event will be sent to Mycota Lab for DNA barcoding. At Mycota Lab in 2025, we have an open call for Colorado mushrooms. So additionally, participants will be instructed about how they can contribute all of their Colorado finds for DNA sequencing for the duration of 2025.

Alan will give a one hour mushroom photography talk and lead a classroom-based workshop instructing participants how to post-process and combine images to obtain crisp, clear, colorful and scientifically useful photos of fungi from the morning foray. The two software programs we will teach are Helicon Focus for image stacking and Photoshop for general photo editing. Participants will be encouraged (but not required) to bring their own laptops, so that they may follow along in class, and process their photos with help from Alan and Mandie.

The Art of Calibration and Precision: Advanced Microdosing and Emotional Alchemy w/ Andrea Wednesday, August 12th 10am-1pm Mountain Lodge

Following her successful presentation last year, psychotherapist, entheogen facilitator, and holistic coach Andrea López Boetsch returns to Telluride to reveal the next level of conscious medicine work. As the founder of Casa Micelio in Chilean Patagonia, Andrea brings fresh perspectives derived from her clinical practice and having successfully guided over 2,000 people. This year, the session goes beyond the basics of "how-to" and delves into The Calibration Method. Andrea will share her unique approach to "emotional alchemy," emphasizing how to personalize protocols according to each individual's unique nervous system and emotional landscape. The Gut-Brain-Spirit Connection: An updated look at nutritional preparation and how the microbiome influences the effectiveness of microdosing. Synergistic Integration: New research and practical applications on the use of specific adaptogens to "anchor" the insights gained during the process. Beyond the Dose: Advanced "Emotional Tracking" tools to objectively measure spiritual and psychological growth, ensuring that therapy is not just a routine, but a real transformation. The Macro-Micro Bridge: How to use microdosing as a tool for sustainable integration after profound experiences with larger doses (macro-doses). This workshop is designed for those seeking a sophisticated, safe, and deeply personalized relationship with plant medicine, guided by one of the most experienced practitioners in South America.

Alibi opens for Myco beers and mingling at 6:00pm
Quattlebaum (solo banjo and vocals) will start at 7pm at the Alibi stage.

Set against the electric backdrop of the Telluride Mushroom Festival—a legendary gathering of mycologists, artists, and wild-minded wanderers celebrating all things fungi—this late-night afterparty at the Alibi promises a sonic journey as expansive as the San Juans themselves. Opening the evening, Quattlebaum delivers a soulful, story-rich solo set steeped in folk tradition and mountain magic, setting the stage for Banshee Tree, whose genre-bending sound fuses jazz, indie rock, and psychedelic grooves into an ecstatic, dancefloor-ready experience. Come for the mushrooms, stay for the music, and drift deep into the night. 🍄✨

Banshee Tree starts at 8:30PM

Banshee Tree’s roots run deep. An indie psychedelic pop/rock band with sharply-written songs, jazz inspired solos, saxophone textures and grooves that nod to the dance floor, they’ve spent nearly a decade evolving their sound. That fusion reaches a new peak with Bad Luck, a restless and unapologetically diverse album that captures a critically-acclaimed band chasing down new horizons. Combining their strength as a live act with an experimental approach in the recording studio, Bad Luck makes room for the full range of Banshee Tree’s influences, from the layered soundscapes of the instrumental track “Stellar Jay Theme” to the anthemic, festival friendly folk pop of “Bright Blue Light.” It’s a wide mix, glued together by a band of Colorado based songwriters who’ve always embraced the grey areas between genres. They’ve played everywhere- jam festivals, EDM bills and bluegrass shows with genre benders like Leftover Salmon and The Infamous Stringdusters- and Bad Luck celebrates that history while pushing toward a new future.

This Event is FREE for attendees and $10 for non-pass holders at the door.
